Study: Sites with Twitter share buttons gain social boost

San Mateo, Calif.—Websites that feature a tweet button drive almost seven times more link mentions on average than sites that do not, according to an analysis by search engine optimization company BrightEdge Technologies. The report, titled “BrightEdge Social Share Report,” analyzed 4 million randomly sampled tweets in August, determining which tweets carried shared information and if they were shared with buttons or links. The study also found that only 53.6% of the 10,000 most popular websites have social links or plugins linking to Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn or Twitter.
