Phoenix—The development of regional websites internationally has become a strategic, high-priority initiative for companies, according to a study by digital management company Limelight Networks.
According to Limelight's “Website Globalization,” conducted in May with 200 marketing executives responding, 28% currently have six to 10 regional websites, while 6% manage more than 30 sites. When asked about adding regional websites over the next 12 months, 65% of respondents said they plan to add two to five, while 19% plan to add six to 10. In addition, 57% are adding up to five new languages to their array of regional websites.
The effective management of multiple, disparate regional websites remains a challenge, according to the study: 60% of respondents said they would
add more regional sites to bolster globalization efforts but cannot due to the challenges of using multiple platforms (57%), budget constraints (48%) and lack of technical resources (29%).
