Sun, Netscape to market online bill payment software to banks

Palo Alto, Calif.--Sun Microsystems, Palo Alto, Calif., and Netscape Communications Corp., Mountain View, Calif., will begin marketing a jointly developed online bill payment software package to banks. Additionally, the companies have already signed up Chase Manhattan Bank, New York; First Union Corp., Charlotte, N.C.; and Wells Fargo Bank, Minneapolis, to use the software, called iPlanet BillerXpert Consolidator. The software allows banks to present bills to both corporate and consumer customers and receive payments over the Web.
