SuperComm telecommunications trade show called off

By Published on .

Washington, D.C.—SuperComm, the annual trade show for the telecommunications and digital-technology industries, scheduled for Oct. 26-28 in Chicago, has been called off. The cosponsors of the show, the Telecommunications Industry Association and the United States Telecom Association, made the decision after Expocomm Events withdrew as show manager because of dwindling attendance and poor financial projections. The show has been plagued by competing strategic visions and branding. In 2006, TIA and USTelecom went their separate ways with different shows, GlobalComm and TelecomNext, respectively. In 2007, the two associations came back together to sponsor a single TelecomNext show, then brought back the SuperComm name in 2009. Last year, the show attracted about 6,400 attendees.
