Survey finds customer support for e-mail marketing

San Mateo, Calif.--Americans who use the Internet appreciate the benefits of receiving legitimate e-mail marketing messages and are clearly able to distinguish between such messages and spam, according to the results of a poll released Thursday. The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive and commissioned by Digital Impact Inc., which provides online direct marketing, found that 86% of the respondents have requested to receive legitimate e-mail marketing messages, and 71% have made purchases based on e-mail marketing. Additionally, 59% define e-mail marketing as information on products or services that they have requested to receive.
