Survey finds majority of industrial companies plan to boost marketing spending this year

Troy, N.Y.—Fifty-six percent of industrial marketers plan to increase their marketing spend this year, 7% plan to reduce it and 37% expect to spend the same, according to a survey by GlobalSpec, a vertical search engine for the engineering, industrial and technical communities.

Seventy percent of industrial marketers cited either customer acquisition or lead generation as their primary marketing goal this year. More than half of marketers plan to allocate additional budget dollars to search engine marketing, online directories and Web sites, and e-mail advertising; 35% of respondents said they will spend more than 50% of their marketing budget online, according to GlobalSpec.
