Survey: Mobile, social critical to SMBs

Atlanta—Mobile and social services are becoming increasingly important to small and midsize businesses, according to a study by technology company Cbeyond. The study, “Summer 2013 Cbeyond Business Leader Snapshot,” conducted in May, as based on an online survey of 711 senior executives at businesses with fewer than 250 employees. It found that 34% of executives said their businesses could not survive without mobile services, and 47% said social media is critical to their growth. According to the survey, 59% of SMBs plan to increase technology spending this year. The top technologies that will be important to SMBs this year include mobile services (93%); desktop management software (92%); security and productivity applications (83%); voice and broadband services (74%); and cloud services (70%).
