Survey: Newspaper sites top source for local information

Arlington, Va.—About 57% of respondents to an online survey conducted by comScore for the Newspaper Association of America identified local newspaper Web sites as the top online source for local information.

According to the NAA study based on the survey, “Site Matter: The Value of Local Newspaper Web Sites,” newspaper sites rank first as sources for local information (29%), local sports (27%), local entertainment (26%) and local classifieds (39%). These rankings placed newspapers ahead of both local TV Web sites and online portals.

The survey had 3,050 respondents.
