Survey: IT spending will increase 4.4% in second quarter

Published on .

New York--An online survey of CIOs and other senior IT executives concluded that overall technology spending will increase 4.4% between the first and second quarters of this year, but that increase appears to be highly contingent on the outcome of the war in Iraq.

The Quarterly IT Spending Survey was conducted by Ziff Davis Media’s CIO Insight. Eighty-one percent of respondents said their IT spending in the second quarter will remain the sameor increase. Nineteen percent said their spending will decrease.

When asked how the war in Iraq would affect their IT spending over the next six months, 24% said they would decrease spending in the next six months; 68% said spending would remain the same, and only 8% said they would increase spending.

The survey was conducted between March 13 and March 20.
