Symantec to acquire Altiris

Cupertino, Calif.—Symantec Corp. announced Monday it has agreed to acquire Altiris, a PC networking software company, for approximately $830 million, or $33 a share, in cash. Click Here! The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter. Symantec said the acquisition will complement its security products. “By combining the endpoint management solutions from Altiris with the security expertise from Symantec, we believe we can offer customers a more comprehensive solution to protect and manage the millions of connected devices that make up the fabric of today’s global IT infrastructure,” said John W. Thompson, chairman-CEO of Symantec.
