Tech ad pages drop sharply in July

Manhasset, N.Y.--United Business Media’s CMP Media released data showing tech sector ad pages decreased 12.3% last month compared with July 2003. In the same time frame, CMP Media’s ad pages--excluding shuttered publications such as EBN--decreased 6.5%. CRN posted the largest decline (-36.9%). The big ad page gainers were Dr. Dobb’s Journal (62.5%) and EE Times (9.7%). In the first seven months of this year, the biggest gainer at CMP was InformationWeek, which saw a 6.8% gain in ad pages compared with the year-earlier period. Dr. Dobb’s had the biggest year-to-date decline, with ad pages falling 16.0% dip in ad pages.
