Tech publication ad pages decline 7.0%

Manhasset, N.Y.--United Business Media’s CMP Media Friday released figures showing that tech publications recorded a 7.0% decline in advertising pages in March compared with a year earlier.

CMP's continuing technology publications posted a 3.9% drop-in ad pages.

For the first quarter of 2004 compared with the same period last year, CMP Media’s ad pages were off 6.6% while tech publications as a whole were down 7.8%. For March 2004, the big gainer was CMP’s Dr. Dobb’s Journal, which was up 44.3% in ad pages vs. March 2003. CRN was CMP’s biggest loser, posting a 16.6% decline in ad pages for the same period.
