Tech publishers see big drop in ad pages

Eugene, Ore. -- Total high-tech ad pages dropped 15% in the first quarter compared with the same period last year, falling from 67,003 to 57,637. Revenue dipped 6%, from $815 million to $763 million. The top five publishers of tech titles all posted first-quarter ad page declines. Ziff-Davis' pages fell 20.71%. CMP Media's pages dropped 27.37%. International Data Group's pages were off 4.95%. Cahners' pages tumbled 15.32%, and Miller Freeman's pages declined 12.15%. Imagine Media was one of the few winners as its first-quarter pages jumped by nearly 41%.
