Pleasanton, Calif.--Again Technologies Inc. announced Tuesday a new corporate name and a new Java-based platform for its Sales Incentive & Compensation software suite. The company is now Motiva Inc., and the new platform is Motiva8. The software platform and rebranding marks the completion of a strategy that's taken the company from a client-server enterprise software vendor to an open-systems Internet enterprise software vendor, said Jeff Carr, Motiva president-CEO. The new, $250,000 Motiva8 software will be sold on an enterprise license base, which includes an 18% annual maintenance fee. Upgrades from earlier products include software coding written in Java, which can be used to deliver sales incentive and compensation information via a secure connection to sales representatives without requiring the sales representative to download any client software, Carr said. Earlier versions required a client-end installation, which can be difficult when dealing with professional sales staffs, Carr said. Motiva's new software and brand identity turns up the competition in a growing industry, which is software sales of a platform that knits together the sales operations and the finance departments responsible for tracking sales and responding with paychecks in a timely fashion. One competitor is Callidus Software Inc., which claims similar capabilities. Motiva will attempt to forge relationships with such payroll specialists as Ceridian and Advanced Data Processing to cross-sell to businesses already outsourcing the sales function, Carr said.
