TechTarget acquires TheServerSide Communities

Published on .

Needham, Mass.—Putting in play more of its $70 million in venture capital funding secured earlier this year, information technology media company TechTarget announced Tuesday that it has acquired TheServerSide Communities from Mountain View, Calif.-based Veritas Software Corp.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition marks TechTarget’s move into the enterprise application developer market with these properties: TheServerSide.com, TheServerSide.net and TheServerSide Java Symposium.

TechTarget said it will expand the range of advertising vehicles available on TheServerSide sites. Current advertisers include Microsoft Corp., IBM Corp. and Oracle Corp.

The acquisition of TheServerSide Communities comes as part of a deal for the assets of media, research and training business Middleware Co., a subsidiary of Veritas. TechTarget said it has discontinued the company’s research and training operations.
