Thomson Corp. completes tender offer for NewsEdge

Toronto--The Thomson Corp. announced Wednesday the completion of a cash tender offer by its InfoBlade subsidiary to acquire NewsEdge Corp., which manages and distributes online content. InfoBlade said it would pay $2.30 for each outstanding share of NewsEdge common stock. Once the acquisition is completed, Thomson will merge InfoBlade and NewsEdge and retain the NewsEdge name. Thomson Corp.'s Thomson Financial unit, currently on the auction block, is one of the leading publishers of financial/insurance trade magazines.
