New York—Ad spending in 2005 will reach $145.3 billion, up 3.4% over 2004, according to a forecast by TNS Media Intelligence.

The forecast was presented at the AdWatch conference, which is co-hosted by Advertising Age and TNS. Advertising Age is published by Crain Communications Inc., the publisher of BtoB.

According to TNS, ad spending will grow by 4.1% during the first half of 2005, compared with the same period in 2004, and by 2.7% during the second half of the year.

Steven Fredericks, CEO of TNS, said the slowdown during the second half is due to increased ad spending last year related to the presidential election and Summer Olympics.
