New York—Total U.S. advertising will reach $152.3 billion this year, up 5.4% over 2005, according to a new forecast by TNS Media Intelligence. Total advertising grew an estimated 3.0% in 2005 over 2004, TNS said. According to the report, advertising will grow by 5.0% during the first half of this year and will increase by 5.7% during the second half. Steven Fredericks, president-CEO of TNS, said growth this year will be driven by events such as the Winter Olympics and mid-term elections, as well as stronger economic growth. Media categories showing the strongest growth in 2006 will be Internet, cable TV and Hispanic network television, TNS projects.
