Toyota goes under Canopy for b-to-b

Published on .

Newton, Mass.-Toyota Motor Corp. has selected Canopy International to provide the b-to-b integration services for linking partners to its supply chain in Europe. The deal means Canopy will lead deployment of a customized automobile production system in that market. The system will report on demand for Toyota automobiles and the ability of suppliers to provide parts on time to its assembly lines. Toyota is already running a similar supply-chain system in Japan, which was developed by NEC Corp. The plan is to eventually link all systems in all regions. The European phase is scheduled for completion in 2001.
