Delray Beach, Fla.--The Federation of Internet Solution Providers of the Americas (FISPA), a six-year-old non-profit representing companies that provide dial-up access to the Internet, announced late Tuesday a plan to help its members stay or become profitable. FISPA Executive Director Joseph Marion said the idea is to deliver to small ISPs nationwide discounts that drop straight to the bottom line. Discounted products and services are offered by such companies as Bellsouth, Cisco, Comtrend, EPIK Communications and NetVillage. For example, a company seeking to add dial-up access services for its clients can buy Cisco products for discounts of up to 64% off list price, Marion said. The move is of interest to sales and marketing executives, who often rely on boutique ISPs to provide customers with Web services without taxing the personnel or network infrastructure of a company’s IT department.
