Trade publication and trade show M&A dollar value drops in 2008

Published on .

New York—More trade magazine and trade show mergers and acquisitions were completed in 2008 than 2007, but the value of the deals declined, according to a report issued last week by M&A advisory firm Whitestone Communications.

The number of trade magazine/trade show deals last year totaled 69, compared with 55 in 2007, Whitestone reported. The dollar value of deals last year was $773 million, down from $2.4 billion in 2007.

“My take away is that the lack of bank financing has limited deal-makers to making smaller buys,” said Whitestone Communications Managing Director, Ed Fitzelle.
