Trade show industry grows in Q4, according to CEIR Index

Published on .

Dallas—Trade show industry activity increased 3.8% in the fourth quarter of 2011 compared with the year-earlier period, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research's CEIR Index. All four components of the CEIR Index showed growth in the fourth quarter, with net square feet up 4.2%, number of exhibiting companies up 2.4%, professional attendance up 3.6% and revenue up 5.1%. For the full year 2011, the CEIR Index was up 2.7%. “The positive momentum of the exhibition industry, which has experienced six consecutive quarters of growth, gives strong reassurance that the industry has emerged from the economic downturn and is making progress toward recovery,” said CEIR economist Allen Shaw, in a statement.
