Tribune Co. April revenue up 2%

Chicago--Tribune Co. said today its revenue rose 2% in April from a year earlier, helped by sales in its broadcasting and entertainment groups. Tribune, whose properties include the Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times newspapers, said April revenues totaled $417 million, up from $410 million in April 2001. Advertising revenue fell 1%, to $225 million from $228 million, while publishing revenues were $296 million, little changed from a year earlier. Tribune's broadcasting and entertainment group revenue rose 6%, to $115 million from $109 million.
