Tribune revenue down 1% in first quarter

Chicago—Tribune Co. on Thursday reported operating revenue of $1.43 billion for the second quarter, down 1% from the second quarter of 2005. Earnings per share were 53 cents, compared with 72 cents a share in the second quarter of 2005. For the publishing division, national advertising revenue was down 7% in the second quarter, with decreases in movies, autos, resorts and technology. Interactive revenue was up 27%, mainly due to strength across all classified categories, according to Tribune Co.
