Chicago--In two deals that underscore the globalization trend in b-to-b direct marketing, True North Communications Inc. has acquired The Opus Group, a Basingstoke, England-based customer relationship management company, and Datamidia, a Sao Paolo, Brazil-based database and digital communications company. True North made the acquisitions on behalf of FCBi, the interactive unit of True North subsidiary FCB Worldwide. The deals give True North a greatly expanded global reach and client base. Customers of The Opus Group include Compaq Computer Corp. and Gartner Group Inc. Among Datamidia's b-to-b clients is Shell Oil Co. Financial terms were not disclosed.
