Denver, Colo.—TRUSTe announced Tuesday that it has launched an e-mail privacy seal program that will allow certified e-mail senders to display a TRUSTe approval seal that reads "We don’t spam." The expectation is that the e-mail marketing industry will adopt the program as part of an overall effort to combat spam.
E-mail marketing company Return Path and online marketing company DoubleClick lent technical and financial support to the development of the seal program.
"[It] will start to address a number of concerns senders and consumers have at this time," said Fran Maier, executive director and president of TRUSTe.
"It’s a very logical next step in the evolution of the struggle that’s going on between good and evil on the Internet," added Matt Blumberg, president-CEO at Return Path.
