New York—Blogging platform Tumblr, which was acquired last month by Yahoo Inc., will begin showing sponsored Web posts on desktop computers beginning this summer.
The new ad units will be a part of users' message streams, which previously had only shown posts from other users on desktop and laptop computers, the company said on its blog. Advertisers that have been testing the ad units in beta include AT&T Inc., Capital One Financial, Universal Studios and Viacom Inc.
The new ad units are similar to the mobile ads
that Tumblr introduced in April.
