Twitter raises $200 million in funding round

San Francisco—Social microblogging company Twitter Inc. has raised a huge new round of funding, amounting to a reported $200 million. The investment group is led by Menlo Park, Calif.-based venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

Kleiner Perkins joins existing investors Insight Venture Partners, Institutional Venture Partners, Spark Capital, T. Rowe Price and Union Square Ventures. Twitter's total funding to date is about $360 million.

In addition, Twitter has added former Tellme Networks CEO Mike McCue and former DoubleClick CEO David Rosenblatt to its board.
