Twitter rolls out self-serve ads

San Francisco—Twitter has launched a do-it-yourself advertising service enabling advertisers to run their own campaigns and pay with credit cards, as on Facebook and Google. Currently advertisers can only purchase the company's Promoted Accounts and Promoted Tweets ad products through the self-serve method, but according to the AllThingsD website, that will be expanded. Twitter's global advertising sales have been projected to reach $139.5 million by year's end, up 210% from last year, according to a September report from marketing consultancy eMarketer.
