San Francisco—Twitter's expanded tweets feature, a partnership program with media companies that debuted Thursday and allows viewers to preview linked stories and videos, is expected to benefit companies promoting online content.
The feature allows users the option of opening up a tweet to see a variety of embedded content, including replies, retweets, favorites and a preview of linked content from selected media partners, the company said on its official blog.
Among Twitter's current partners are The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal
and Der Spiegel
The new service is expected to extend the marketing functionality of tweets currently restricted to a maximum of 140 characters.
