U.N. seeks to standardize anti-spam legislation worldwide

Geneva—The United Nations Tuesday said it wants to standardize anti-spam legislation worldwide to make it easier to prosecute spammers, according to published reports.

The United Nations said it is crucial to bring under control the “modern day epidemic of junk e-mail.”

Toward that end, the International Telecommunications Union is hosting a meeting this week that brings together regulators from more than 60 countries and organizations, including the World Trade Organization.
