U.S. Air Force chooses Plumtree for worldwide portal project

Published on .

Washington--The U.S. Air Force has tapped San Francisco-based Plumtree Software Inc. to develop a worldwide portal. The portal will connect Air Force personnel and civilian contractors, allowing for the exchange of supply-chain data and mission-capability status. It will also let Air Force commanders access aircraft and unit status, as well as maintenance and repair data, online. The news comes soon after the Air Force chose Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Verity Inc. to develop a search engine. Plumtree has also developed portals for Fortune 500 companies including Ford Motor Co. and Eli Lily & Co.
