London—United Business Media announced Monday that it has acquired Virtual Press Office in a deal potentially valued at $10 million. VPO will become part of UBM's PR Newswire.

VPO provides communications and marketing services to event organizers, exhibitors and attendees. The business, which was launched in 1996, now serves more than 500 tradeshows.

UBM said VPO will help position PR Newswire as a leader in providing marketing communications services for the U.S. event market. It expects VPO to generate $2.2 million in revenue this year.

VPO’s co-founders, CEO Peter Brand and COO Tom Cherry, will join PR Newswire.

“Bringing VPO and PR Newswire’s capabilities together creates a complete, integrated communications service specifically tailored for live event marketers, a service which we will leverage across UBM’s own global events portfolio and will also offer to other event organizers, exhibitors and attendees worldwide,” David Levin, UBM CEO, said in a statement.
