UBM explores options for NOP World

London—United Business Media may be putting NOP World, its market research arm, on the block.

UBM’s board announced on Friday that it has appointed Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Allen & Co. to conduct a "strategic review" of NOP World.

"The strategic review will examine a number of alternatives to maximize the value of NOP World for UBM shareholders including developing NOP World further, expanding NOP World through strategic alliances or a sale," UBM said in a press release.

UBM is the owner of CMP Media.

"United Business Media has a long and successful history of being opportunistic about its M&A strategy. You could also look at this as Clive Hollick clearing the decks for David Levin when he takes over in April," said Richard Mead, managing director of media investment bank Jordan, Edmiston Group.
