UBM, Informa scuttle merger talks

Published on .

London—United Business Media, the publisher of EE Timesand other tech properties in the U.S., and Informa, an academic, commercial and professional publisher, announced Tuesday that merger talks between the two companies have ceased.

On June 8, UBM had announced that it was in discussions with Informa regarding a potential merger. Despite being unable to come to acceptable terms with Informa, UBM said it “remains of the view that a merged company could deliver significant benefits to both UBM and Informa shareholders, provide enhanced services to its customers and could become the employer of choice in the global business media market.”

Informa issued its own press release on Tuesday announcing that “it has received a further approach from a third party that may or may not lead to a takeover offer in cash being made for the company.”
