UBM reports higher revenue for 2004

London—United Business Media, parent of CMP Media, reported Wednesday that in 2004 it has boosted revenue through acquisitions and launches and improved operating profit as a result of the broad-based strength of its business units.

The company said that revenues from the publications and events units in the U.K. and Asia have increased so far this year compared with the same period in 2003.

In the U.S., UBM said, health care publishing (driven in part by "strong" results from its 2003 acquisition of the Oncology Group and Cliggott publishing) and online spending in technology marketing are displaying "strong growth."

However, tech print advertising continues to struggle, with overall revenue down in 2004 compared with 2003.
