Unisys re-aligns sales force, customer service

Blue Bell, Pa.--Unisys Corp., which is attempting to position all of its information technology services around electronic commerce, moved Wednesday to consolidate into one sales force its 1,800 sales people currently divided among three sales forces. The company said it will soon use a networked sales force, which will sell all of its products and services through a single point of contact. Unisys' move underscores the increasing pressure on companies to move away from selling discrete products. Unisys indicated that Web customer service is a key part of the reorganization because, in some cases, companies have requested a Web interface rather than a sales person.
