United Business Media acquires Black Hat, Japan Jewelry Fair

London—United Business Media, which owns technology publishing company CMP Media, announced it has acquired IT security event and training organizer Black Hat for $10 million and the Japan Jewelry Fair for $2.7 million.

Black Hat operates IT security conferences in the U.S., Europe and Asia for IT security professionals.

UBM said the purchase of the Japan Jewelry Fair extends its position in the Asian fashion sector where it already owns Asia's biggest jewelry fair, the Hong Kong Jewelry Fair.
