United Business Media confirms merger talks with Informa

London—The board of United Business Media confirmed the company is in the “early stages” of merger talks with U.K.-based publisher Informa for an all-stock deal.

Informa is a b-to-b publisher and event producer in the scientific, academic and commercial industries. Among its magazines are Banking Technology, Health Insurance & Protection, International Freight Weekly, Mobile Communications International and Television Business International.

It also produces more than 12,000 events a year, including the 3GSM World Congress, the Adam Smith Conferences and Maritime Security International.

UBM is being represented by Merrill Lynch International.
