United News & Media appoints new chairman

London--United News & Media plc, the London-based parent company of business media company Miller Freeman, San Francisco, announced Tuesday that Sir Ronald Hampel will be appointed chairman of United News & Media on July 1. Mr. Hampel succeeds Lord David Stevens, who is retiring. Mr. Hampel was CEO of chemical company ICI Group, London, from 1993 to 1995, when he was promoted to chairman. Mr. Stevens took over as chairman of United News & Media in 1981.
