UPS makes executive changes

Published on .

Mahwah, N.J.--United Parcel Service of America has named John Beystehner, currently senior VP-worldwide sales and marketing, to COO and president of UPS Airlines. He succeeds Thomas H. Weidemeyer, who is retiring.

Beystehner, a 32-year veteran of UPS, oversaw UPS’ “What can Brown do for you?” campaign. Succeeding him as senior VP-worldwide sales and marketing is Kurt Kuehn, currently VP-investor relations.

A UPS employee since 1977, Kuehn played a role in UPS' initial public offering in 1999, which was at the time the largest IPO in the history of Wall Street. He subsequently was named the company's first investor relations manager.

Also retiring from UPS is Joseph R. Moderow, the company’s general counsel, corporate secretary and head of global public affairs and public relations. Replacing Moderow as general counsel and corporate secretary will be Allen Hill, who is currently a VP in the company's legal department.
