Published on .

Washington, D.C.—The U.S. Postal Service issued an advisory regarding post office closings and delivery suspensions in parts of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

USPS updates will be posted at http://www.usps.com/communications/news/serviceupdates.htm.

Also, the Direct Marketing Association has advised its telemarketing members to be aware that under Louisiana law, telephone solicitations are not allowed in areas where a state of emergency is in effect. That includes solicitations from nonprofit organizations, according to the DMA.
