USWeb/CKS, Whittman-Hart plan $5.9B merger

San Francisco--USWeb/CKS, San Francisco, and Whittman-Hart, Chicago, announced Monday plans to merge. The deal, expected to close in April, will create a global Internet professional services company with 8,000 consultants in 13 countries. The two companies plan to continue to deliver Internet strategy, marketing, creative and technology services to both dot-com start-ups and traditional brick-and-mortar businesses. They'll also continue development of managed online services and online software for business strategists. Under terms of the deal, each share of USWeb/CKS will be exchanged for 0.865 shares of Whittman-Hart stock, bringing the value of the deal to about $5.9 billion.
