Video use gets big April boost

Reston, Va.—Google Inc. channels that show streaming video saw a 55% increase in video views during April year over year, according to a report by comScore. Google channel YouTube had the most views. The “comScore Video Metrix” report indicated that the average viewer watched more than 7 hours of Google-centric videos during the month. Videos viewed on Yahoo Inc. sites, the music video site Vevo and Facebook also grew year over year. Overall unique viewers increased just 5%, but those viewers are spending much more time with the medium, according to the report Video ads delivered in the U.S. hit a record 9.5 billion in April, comScore said. Hulu led,, with 1.6 billion video ads delivered during the month, followed by Google sites with 1.3 billion; BrightRoll Video Network, with 943 million;, with 881 millio; and TubeMogul Video Ad Platform, with 831 million.
