Austin, Texas--Completing a sale within a Web banner, e-mail or affiliate site is the drive behind Vignette Corp.'s recently announced strategic alliance with Vitessa, Seattle. Vignette said it plans to incorporate Vitessa's Internet product code technology in a line of e-commerce applications, due in 2000. The technology will enable companies to manage the marketing and sale of products without redirecting customers to their corporate sites. A ``buy it'' button, carrying all necessary e-commerce, marketing and business information for a specific product, can be placed wherever a partnership or affiliate relationship has been established, the companies said. A major player in the Internet server software arena, Vignette counts among its 200 clients National Semiconductor, DaimlerChrysler and Nokia.
