Visa debuts new Phelps spot

Published on .

San Francisco—Visa Inc. didn’t waste any time promoting its celebrity spokesman, Michael Phelps, debuting a new TV spot moments after the Olympic swimmer set an all-time record for capturing the most career gold medals on Aug. 12.

Visa’s new spot, “Congratulations Phelps,” ran in the first commercial break following Phelps’ gold-medal win in the 200-meter butterfly event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The ad is part of Visa’s “Go World” campaign, developed by TBWA/Chiat/Day, Los Angeles, which promotes Visa’s sponsorship of the Olympic Games.
