Visa U.S.A. taps IBM vet to head financial institution sales

Foster City, Calif.--Visa U.S.A., the U.S. unit of Visa International, has named John Gardner exec VP-member sales. Mr. Gardner will oversee all sales and marketing efforts aimed at the 14,000 financial institutions that are part of Visa U.S.A.'s member network. Previously, Mr. Gardner was with IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y., where he was the lead marketing strategist for Big Blue's NationsBank account. NationsBank has since merged with, and changed its name to, Bank of America Corp. Visa International is the largest credit card network in the world.
