VNU revenue up 6% in second quarter

Haarlem, the Netherlands—VNU, the media conglomerate that was taken over in May by a group of private equity firms, Friday reported its second-quarter revenue increased 6% to $1.20 billion, compared with the same period in 2005.

VNU said earnings in the second quarter rose 11% to $144.6 million, before items related to the sale; including these items, VNU lost $7.6 million in the second quarter, compared with a profit of $128.1 million a year earlier.
