VNU unit, IDG to merge publishing operations in France

Haarlem, the Netherlands—VNU announced Tuesday that VNU Business Media Europe and International Data Group intend to merge their publishing operations in France.

The new company, with combined annual revenue of approximately €30 million, will operate as an independent joint venture with VNU and IDG each owning a 50% stake.

On Monday, VNU announced a marketing partnership with the Shanghai Media Group to expand its presence in China. The companies said a key goal of the relationship is to expand the business information market in China, where Shanghai Media Group is involved in radio, television, newspapers and magazines.

VNU Business Media Europe also announced the appointment of Jon Ross as executive director of VNU Business Media China.
