Bentonville, Ark. -- Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Monday said it hasselected supply chain software from Atlas Commerce Inc., Malvern, Pa., toadd new sourcing and collaboration capabilities to its privatee-marketplace, Retail Link. Atlas' Metaprise Software platform will letWal-Mart, which already leverages its market dominance to cutbargain-basement deals with its suppliers, to fine tune its procurementpractice. For instance, using the software would allow Wal-Mart toaggregate demand among its many stores and locations and generate a singlerequest for quote that can be sourced on a global basis. Wal-Mart has been noticeablyabsent at the creation of retail industry exchanges, such as the WorldWideRetail Exchange.
